I Can’t Get No Job Satisfaction – Horrible Bosses

The 2011 film Horrible Bosses featuring Jennifer Aniston, Collin Farrell, Kevin Spacy, and Jamie Foxx very humorously discusses a serious topic that plagues a lot of working people today. You might very well love your job but despise your boss. Now it is not wise to plot against your horrible bosses and attempt to kill them like the main characters in the movie but you have to ask yourself if it is worth it. Is your company working for you when you have to deal with that horrible boss every day?

This article is more about discussing the question that was posed above more so than anything else. What are you giving up by staying with a company and remaining in a department with a supervisor that is sucking the life out of the very thing you love? It can be scary to even consider leaving a job you have had for a number years but you must think about yourself sometimes. The truth of the matter is our jobs affect so much more than our bank accounts. The overall quality of your life can improve by deciding to make a change and move on if necessary.

It is sad that we often hear of grumblings from people who hate what they do or are not satisfied with their work. Think about the tremendous impact your professional life is having on your entire life. It is bad when you do work that is not rewarding or feels good to your soul. It is just as challenging when you love what you but have to put up with a challenging supervisor.

Like the characters of Horrible Bosses, most people just tolerate their bosses and do not say anything about the situation to their superiors or the boss’s superiors. If you feel this way about your supervisor then chances are others do as well. This can be a delicate situation to handle depending on the specific details of your circumstances but it is worth contemplating if you really want to have a better quality of life.

Think about all you are really losing by staying with a boss who does not support you or is not a good supervisor. You deserve to be happy when you go to work each day. You shouldn’t wake up dreading work because of an unreasonable supervisor. It can be scary to switch jobs if you have been with a company for an extended period of time but if this is what is needed then you should consider it. You never know what other good things that very fear could be holding you back from. If you need a laugh you should definitely take a look at Horrible Bosses.
